Family Photoshoot Locations in Warwickshire

You’re desperate to freeze this family chapter in your lives so have booked a family photoshoot… amazing! But now the tough decision comes next, where to make memories to adorn your walls? Thankfully, there are so many beautiful photoshoot locations across Warwickshire, you’ll be spoilt for choice. But first, there’s one big deciding factor to consider.

What time of year should I have my family photoshoot?

Seasons will have a huge impact on your location choices. A meadow full of wildflowers and lush grass in June, may look incredibly stark and unattractive in November. Thankfully though, there are a whole variety of options across the year,

Springtime - March, April, May

This is the perfect time to document memories together amongst the spring flowers and adventure in the woods. The end of April and very beginning of May is particularly popular for bluebells in places such as Cawston Woods in Rugby and Brandon Woods just outside of Coventry. The woods is also the perfect place to shelter if it’s still a little chilly and provides a wonderful natural playground for children to explore in.

Summer - June, July, August

With the sun (hopefully) shining and the warm weather on your skin, meadows and fields across Warwickshire are a perfect photoshoot location for your family photos. Amongst the long grass, you can dance, play and cuddle up on a blanket together. Some of my favourite locations for this time of year include local nature reserves and wheat fields. During the summer, I regularly check on my locations as we never quite know when fields will be harvested or grass will get mown and I confirm with you a day or two before the session the final location.

Autumn - September, October, November

One word comes to mind when it comes to autunn… colour! Warm, rich hues are the perfect backdrop for your family photographs and there are so many options across Warwickshire. Allesley Park in Coventry has a selection of beautiful trees as does Newbold Comyn in Leamington Spa. The natural texture of bracken and ferns at this time of year is equally as magical as those autumn leaves so an adventure in the woods to places like Oakley Woods in Leamington, Crackley Woods in Kenilworth or slightly further afield Harlestone Firs in Northamptonshire all are great options!

Winter - December, January, February

At this time of year, there are a couple of options. Embrace the weather and visit somewhere seasonal such as a Christmas tree farm for some festive photographs. Children really love playing hide and seek amongst the maze of Christmas trees and it doubles up as a great family day out! However, if you have younger children who may feel the cold a little more, the comfort of your own home can be the perfect place. Reading books together cuddled up on the sofa, jumping on the bed, having a disco together in the kitchen - family photographs taken in your special place!

I hope this shows that each part of the year offers something unique and special in terms of locations for a family photoshoot. What would your preference be? Playing games together in a grassy meadow or pillow fights in the comfort of your own home? Perhaps adventuring in the woods would suit your children and your dog would love it too!
